A shocking twist in the killing of Madlanga Commission Witness D. Police say the alleged gunman behind the murder of Marius van der Merwe is a former elite Special Task Force officer. Forty-one-year-old Matipandile Sotheni is accused of carrying out the drive-by shooting outside van der Merwe’s Brakpan home in December last year. Investigators say another key figure linked to the case - police informant Wiandre Pretorius - drove the getaway car before later dying by suicide.
